Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid: Ajman Census 2027, strategic project supporting Emirate’s comprehensive development

 

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Administrative Census in the Emirate of Ajman, chaired the first meeting of the Committee, held today at the Government Entities Building, in the presence of several general managers.

During the meeting, His Highness emphasized that the Ajman Census 2027 is a strategic project that plays great part in supporting the Emirate’s comprehensive development, noting that available accurate and up-to-date statistical data is fundamental to sound decision-making, looking ahead future needs, and achieving integration among development plans.

His Highness stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among government entities and providing the necessary resources to ensure the census’s success according to the highest standards of quality and governance.

During the meeting, the Committee highlighted the importance of population census as a key pillar for supporting strategic planning and sustainable development, by providing comprehensive and accurate statistical data on the population, housing and establishments, contributing to supporting government policies, improving the efficiency of resource allocation, and enhancing the quality of services provided to the community.

The Committee adopted the general framework for conducting the census and following up on the project-related organizational and technical aspects, along with discussing the organizational structure of the Ajman census, the roles of participating entities, and mechanisms for institutional coordination among partners. This brings integrated efforts, standardized statistical data sources, and highest levels of accuracy and quality in the census outputs.

The meeting addressed the framework for conducting the population census, its main phases, the timeline, and the approved conduct tools, with emphasis on enhancing census operations through the use of smart technologies and artificial intelligence tools, which aims to increase the efficiency of statistical work, accelerate data processing, and improve the quality of statistical indicators, aligning with best practices and internationally-recognized statistical methodologies.

The Committee also discussed the essential requirements for a successful census, including organizational, technical, and human resource aspects, along with reviewing the most prominent potential challenges associated with conducting the population census and how to address them by advance planning, enhanced institutional coordination, and the application of best technological solutions.

For her part, Her Excellency Dr. Hajar Saeed Al-Hubaishi, CEO of the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Center, noted that the Ajman census relies on a modern statistical methodology based on the integration of administrative records and smart technologies. This enables the production of timely and reliable statistical data and indicators. The Center focuses on implementing international best practices in digital statistical transformation and ensuring the quality of statistical data at all stages of the census, from collection and processing to the publication of results, Her Excellency emphasized.

It is worth mentioning that the Ajman census project is a strategic priority statistical project whose implementation is supervised by the Ajman Statistics and Competitiveness Center, as part of the Center’s non-stopping efforts to develop the statistical system, promote the data-driven culture, and support decision-makers with accurate and reliable information that contributes to achieving sustainable development in the Emirate of Ajman.
