Ajman, April 4th 2023 – Themed “Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications”, and held by Rashid bin Humaid Ramadan Majlis, the session touched upon a number of topics and discussed the importance of promoting the adoption of artificial intelligence and modern technology in various fields of work, in order to raise the level of performance and productivity and support the digitalization-based future work system, supporting the continuation of development processes and achieving the best results, and reflecting positively on the life of society.

The session was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department-Ajman (MPDA), President of the UAE Football Association, and His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, and both delivered speeches.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid boasted the pioneering national competencies in the areas of technology and economy, which provided the best image of a country that works non-stop to adopt the best technologies and employ the latest programs to ensure the quality of life and the happiness of all. He stressed that the UAE strives for international leadership and enhancing its competitiveness in various fields, based on many strengths and success factors, such as keeping pace with advanced technology and employing innovative and proactive solutions in government work and in all aspects of life.

Humaid noted that the UAE has a record of success in promoting digital economy, as it was the first to adopt and implement qualitative measures, including the appointment of an artificial intelligence-specialized minister. It has also made qualitative leaps in this vital field, which we have eyed their great impact on economy and development.

The MPDA’s head spoke about the importance of technology and artificial intelligence solutions, which constituted the most successful means in responding to Covid-19, enabling relevant bodies to ensure business continuity, going on with providing services and maintaining communication with the world.

 

Speeding up holistic digital transformation

For his part, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama stressed, during his speech at the session moderated by journalist Marwan Al Shehhi, that the UAE government is keen to speed up the process of holistic digital transformation by employing modern technology and artificial intelligence solutions in diverse areas of work, and adopting future work systems to build a sustainable digital economy, contributing to the development of government work, raising the level of performance and shaping the future.

Noting the success of the UAE’s experience in adopting the digital economy, and the important role of national cadres in achieving qualitative shifts in various fields of work and vital sectors, Al Olama stressed that the government supports the gifted, attracts brilliant minds and encourages innovators to achieve the best results by providing a flexible legislative environment that guarantees entrepreneurs and pioneers of ideas success in their projects, and facilitates attracting talents and investors, to ensure continuous development processes in various fields.

He said that the UAE strategies are based on employing technology, applications of artificial intelligence and digital economy in promoting the holistic development process that continues under an exemplary wise leadership with clear future visions. He pointed out that the State’s development process has seen rapid stages in adopting technology since 1971, when 90% of the UAE’s gross domestic product was based on oil, before the oil contribution shrank in 2020 to only 30% of the gross domestic product. Meanwhile, the State has ranked first in 156 global indicators, and has also been ranked as the best destination to start a new business in the latest global entrepreneurship index, a matter which confirms the UAE’s position in these areas.

Remote work model flexibility

Al Olama moved to the importance of establishing the correct culture regarding the remote work model, as it is an ideal method to achieve flexibility in all circumstances, given that these applications represent the true measure of countries’ ability to prepare for any current and future developments. He stressed the importance of ensuring the flexibility of remote work and enabling employees to deal professionally with future skills and digital tools, and creating an incubating and appropriate environment to provide the best services.

The Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications reviewed a myriad of inspiring success stories of UAE competencies that employed their expertise, skills and capabilities to lead in global markets, becoming a global model in leading major digital firms, and in designing and launching remarkable projects with services whose impact is seen by members of societies, pointing to the importance of digital platforms, which are the basis of the present and the pillar of the future.

He emphasized that the State believes in the importance of employing the cutting-edge technologies and harnessing them in work and life in a manner that brings the best results. He pointed out that one technology may contribute to turning the tide in favor of humans, citing the energy sector that served as an essential enabler for development in the past century.

ChatGBT… Technology of the era

Omar Sultan Al Olama spoke about the new global movement brought about by ChatGBT, which represented a qualitative leap in understanding and developing projects and improving government work, saying, “In the next three years, we will witness the development of 1,000 billion firms that adopt new technologies, contribute to solving challenges and creating better solutions and ideas to thrive in the digital economy”.
