His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA), said: “Majlis gatherings are a core pillar of our community life and a leading platform that brings together intellectuals and experts to exchange perspectives, promote positive and constructive dialogue, and solidify the values of knowledge and community engagement.”
These remarks were made during the first session of the 2026 Rashid bin Humaid Ramadan Majlis, themed “The UAE and Civilizational Leadership in Promoting Islamic Values,” in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Dr. Fayez Mustafa Saif, Member of the Supreme Islamic Sharia Council in Lebanon.
His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi noted that the tradition of majlis gatherings is deeply rooted in the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah have mercy on him, who established the principle of Majlis gatherings as bridges for dialogue, consultation, and strengthening community bonds. The wise leadership has continued on this path, building upon wisdom and insightful vision.
His Excellency voiced his happiness at the renewed gathering for the 2026 Ramadan majlis, explaining that the session focused on a fundamental topic: religion, which safeguards the rights of all and elevates the value and dignity of every human being, regardless of their background or beliefs.
His Excellency affirmed that the UAE has presented a practical model of this understanding, having attracted elites and talents from around the world who have found in it an environment that enables them to live with tolerance and respect, within a framework of order, law, and positive coexistence. This has drawn the world’s attention to the true, positive image of Islam as a religion of mercy, justice, and peace.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei asserted that enlightened gatherings and majlises are a fundamental pillar of the Prophetic methodology, a firm foundation in our society, and a key support in promoting the civilizational values and principles upon which sound social structures are built. These gatherings raise generations to values and traditions, enhance the culture of dialogue and emulation, instill respect for elders and youth, and cultivate a spirit of responsibility and belonging.
His Excellency said, “In this Year of the Family, we gather in love for our nation, drawing inspiration from these majlises and their spirit of unity and closeness, and affirming that the family is the primary nucleus in which values are formed and a conscious national character is built.”
“The true embodiment of Islam lies in adhering to values and principles, and the essence of worship includes venerating rituals and showing consideration for God’s creation through pure feelings and good treatment. The noble Prophetic methodology urges virtuous morals and lofty values, and makes good conduct the foundation for the development of the land and the reform of society,” His Excellency added.
His Excellency emphasized that the UAE is a land of goodness, coexistence, and tolerance, embracing many nationalities in love, affection, and mutual respect. This unique civilizational model draws inspiration from the tolerant values of Islam and translates them into lived reality. He noted that all the themes of the nation’s various years revolve around values, which has drawn the world’s attention to our developmental and humanitarian experience. He affirmed that our nation’s civilization is not merely about buildings, but about meaning, the values that govern human behavior, and the spirit that unites citizens and residents on its land in a journey of goodness and giving.
For his part, Dr. Fayez Mustafa Saif said that the UAE’s model in serving Islam represents a pioneering civilizational experience based on a clear and contemporary vision that reflects the essence of the religion and its noble objectives, This model stems from firmly established national principles embodied in the values of peace and belonging, which are instilled in children generation after generation.
He explained that the wise vision and distinctive model of serving Islam pays attention to the smallest details. The national anthem, which generations recite every morning, is not merely am anthem, but a profound value that expresses the identity of a nation and a moral framework that affirms that Islam in the UAE is a comprehensive framework for justice, mercy, and moderation, and that human dignity is a supreme and non-negotiable value. Adherence to religion and values does not contradict openness to the world; rather, it strengthens it and gives it a broader human dimension.
He pointed out that serving Islam in the UAE is not about raising slogans, but about actions taken and initiatives implemented internally through building mosques, supporting Quranic education centers, training preachers, and strengthening education and values in curricula. Externally, this is done through supporting Islamic centers, launching dialogue initiatives, and providing humanitarian aid, reflecting Islam’s message of mercy and generosity. The signing of the Document on Human Fraternity was a pivotal moment in establishing the UAE’s position as a global center for dialogue and a practical embodiment of the idea that Islam is a bridge for communication, not a wall of isolation.
The attendees, in turn, praised the majlis, which opens up avenues for dialogue and addresses many topics in various fields and sectors of life.
