Council of Rashid bin Humaid Sheds Light on the UAE Labor Market and Keeping up with the Changes in Rapid Paces

 

March 31, 2023 – The Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Ramadan Council shed light on the UAE labor market and keeping pace with changes with rapid steps, explaining the country’s efforts and visions of the wise leadership in advancing the economy and upgrading the investment system.

 

His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, President of the UAE Football Association, welcomed His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman  Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, who was a guest and speaker at the session, accompanied by his work team and in the presence of a group of specialists, experts and decision makers.

 

His Highness stressed that the lecture discusses an important, vital and fundamental topic, as the labor market enjoys great and permanent support from the wise leadership that provides all kinds of support and motivation, granting facilities and privileges to investors, project owners and pioneers of ideas, indicating that the UAE is an attractive country for investment and a global center for trade and economy and a destination for those looking for opening successful projects and ensuring their continuity and expansion.

 

His Highness added that the ambitious plans and clear visions provided flexible legislation and regulations, and national programs that support and stimulate the labor market. Our country also encourages citizens to join private sector jobs, develop their skills and competencies, and attract and retain global skills.

 

Leadership Support

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman AL Awar spoke about the support of the wise leadership and its vision in preserving the excellence of the UAE labor market and achieving the best results year after year, indicating that the country presented a promising, vital and distinguished model in the region and the world, as it was able to attract global capital and talents, and keep pace with acceleration through an integrated system of government legislation and regulations.

 

His Excellency touched on the success story of the Emirati labor market during the Covid 19 pandemic and its ability to pass the stage and achieve ideal indicators and uninterrupted successes to be an Emirati advantage, adding: “We achieved records in the national economy that are higher than in 2019, and we witnessed a boom in the growth of the labor market at high rates, and in 2022 we have witnessed an increase in the number of registered companies, so that our country can attract talents and skilled workers, as a result of the great confidence in the labor market and the fact that the country provides an ideal environment and place to live and work.

 

First Place in Global Competitiveness Indicators

His Excellency stressed that the state achieved first place in 2022 in four indicators of global competitiveness which are few labor disputes, the cost of dismissal from service, working hours, and the ability of the state to attract talents, in addition to obtaining second place in other indicators such as employment and workforce percentage, and the senior managers and specialists indicator, a reflection of the insightful visions of the leadership and the national efforts to make the UAE economy the most competitive and flexible in the region, and the world’s preferred destination for work and living.

 

His Excellency continued that the UAE achieved a 3% jump in its productivity rate in 2022 compared to previous years, which proves the strength of the market and its continuous success, and reflects the confidence of talents and businessmen in the operability of the work system efficiently and effectively.

 

The First in the World in the Field of Laws that Support the Recruitment of Workers

In the meeting moderated by the journalist Mohammed Salem, His Excellency indicated that efforts are intensifying to attract workers, pointing out that “the legislation is flexible and clear, and the amendments are continuing to support the national economy,” explaining the permanent reception of delegations representing the countries of the world looking for joint cooperation, strengthening relations and activating the presence in the UAE labor market.

 

The UAE is a Strong Incubator for Investment

His Excellency reviewed the effectiveness of labor market legislation, stressing that “the country is a strong incubator for investment and a global center for trade and economy. We have worked to adopt best practices and adapt them in line with our national agenda and our priorities related to enhancing the participation of citizens in the private sector, building a system that protects employment and achieves growth for our partners, as well as the paradigm shift in the system and the introduction of new patterns and new legislation for the labor market.

 

More than 28 Thousand Citizens in the Private Sector in 2022

His Excellency highlighted the role of the Emirati Competitiveness Council “NAFES”, which was established to improve the Emirati human development system and prepare productive and sustainable Emirati human capital in the private sector, to achieve the goals of active economic participation of Emirati citizens in a way that supports the country’s economy and contributes to advancing comprehensive development.

 

His Excellency reviewed the number of citizens in the private sector, which did not exceed the employment of 1,500 to 1,500 annually, while the year 2022 witnessed the employment of more than 28,000 male and female citizens in the private sector, and more than 50,000 male and female citizens benefit from the “NAFES” system, which includes insurance support, pensions, and children bonus and salary support.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman AL-Awar said, “The integration of the efforts of state institutions at the local and federal levels resulted in achieving the best results, and accordingly, we achieved the first rank in the world in lifestyle and family stability due to keeping pace with the aspirations of residents, business owners, residents, and visitors.”
