Ajman Municipality Awarded 7 Stars at IBPC 2025

His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman, received the certificate for the 11th International Best Practices Competition (IBPC 2025). The Department was recognized with 7 stars for its innovative initiative, the Smart and Sustainable Waste Data Management Platform, which honors exceptional initiatives and innovations in management and development across various sectors.

The certificate was presented by the granting entity to His Highness at his office within the Department, in the presence of His Excellency Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, the Director General of the Department, Dr. Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, the Executive Director of Public Health and Environment at the Department, along with several officials and experts from both entities.

In this context, His Highness emphasized that this accomplishment contributes to the Department’s extensive list of successes in diverse fields, noting that the Department participated in the 2025 Global Award, which attracts entities and organizations from around the world.

An Outstanding Achievement

His Highness highlighted that the Department rightfully earned the 7-star rating for its smart and sustainable waste data management platform, which reflects an exceptional achievement that embodies the Department’s vision of leveraging modern technology, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence, to transform waste management into a smart and sustainable model that aids decision-making and minimizes environmental impact.

For his part, Dr. Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani elaborated to His Highness on the platform, which encompasses extensive data collection regarding various waste types, real-time monitoring of waste flows, automatic carbon emissions calculations, and features interactive geographical maps that illustrate the quantities and categories of waste. Furthermore, it offers precise insights to decision-makers aimed at improving operational efficiency and bolstering Ajman’s Smart City 2030 vision alongside the UAE’s National Sustainability Agenda.

International Evaluation Criteria

Dr. Eng. Al Hosani indicated that the competition employed specific evaluation criteria established by international experts, with winning initiatives being rated on a scale from one to seven stars, where seven stars signify the highest level of excellence and innovation on a global scale.

It is worth noting that the international certification validates the emirate’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and excellence.
